Fixed braces system

Metal or ceramic brackets bonded to teeth with an arch wire that gradually moves teeth into the correct position. The gold standard of orthodontic treatment - suitable for all levels of misalignment, from mild crowding to complex bite correction.

Dental trainers

Removable orthodontic appliances particularly effective for children aged 5-12, when the jaw is still developing. Trainers help guide proper jaw growth, correct mouth breathing habits and gently reposition teeth - often reducing the need for braces later.

Retainers & retention

After active orthodontic treatment, a retainer holds teeth in their new position while the bone and gum tissue settle. Retention is a critical phase - without it, teeth can gradually drift back. We offer both fixed wire retainers and removable retention caps.

Why straight teeth matter for your health

Many people think of orthodontic treatment as purely cosmetic. In reality, properly aligned teeth have significant benefits for your long-term oral and general health.

βœ“

Easier to clean

Crowded or overlapping teeth create spaces where your toothbrush and floss simply cannot reach - leading to plaque build-up, caries and gum disease.

βœ“

Reduced gum disease risk

Misaligned teeth create uneven pressure on the gums. Correcting alignment reduces the risk of periodontitis and recession.

βœ“

Better bite and jaw comfort

A correctly aligned bite reduces stress on the jaw joint (TMJ), preventing headaches, jaw pain and uneven tooth wear.

βœ“

Confidence that lasts a lifetime

The psychological benefit of a straight, healthy smile is real - and the results of orthodontic treatment last for decades.

The orthodontic process

1

Consultation and x-ray analysis

We take intraoral X-rays and assess your bite, jaw and tooth positions. Your dentist explains the treatment options and a realistic timeline.

2

Treatment plan and fitting

Braces are fitted in a single appointment. For trainers, the appliance is custom-selected or ordered based on your measurements.

3

Regular adjustments

Braces require a visit every 4-8 weeks for wire adjustment and progress review. Treatment duration is typically 12-24 months depending on complexity.

4

Debonding and retention

Once teeth are in position, braces are removed and a retainer fitted. Retention prevents relapse and is just as important as active treatment.

Orthodontics is not just for teenagers

Adults account for a growing proportion of our orthodontic patients. It is never too late to achieve a straighter, healthier smile. Our dentist will honestly assess what is achievable for you at any age.

Frequently asked questions

Am I too old for braces? +

No - there is no upper age limit for orthodontic treatment. Adults with healthy teeth and gums can successfully straighten their teeth at any age. In fact, many of our patients starting braces treatment are in their 30s, 40s or even older. The main difference with adults is that treatment may take slightly longer, since the jaw bone is no longer growing. Book an examination (10€) and we will give you an honest assessment.

How long does orthodontic treatment take? +

The duration depends entirely on the complexity of your case. Simple crowding or a single gap might be corrected in 6-12 months. More complex bite corrections typically require 18-24 months. Dental trainers for children work over a similar timeframe. Your dentist will give you a realistic estimate at the consultation after examining your teeth and X-rays.

Does getting braces hurt? +

Having braces fitted is not painful. After each adjustment appointment, you may feel some pressure or tenderness for 2-4 days as teeth begin to move - this is normal and manageable with standard pain relief. Most patients adapt quickly and find the discomfort very manageable. Our approach is always gentle, and we explain each step so you know exactly what to expect.

How often do I need to come in during braces treatment? +

Typically every 4-8 weeks for a wire adjustment and progress check. We work by appointment and try to schedule visits at times that suit you. If you are coming from Budva, Podgorica or further away, we can plan appointments efficiently to minimise travel. Each visit takes about 20-30 minutes.

What happens after braces come off? +

Immediately after braces are removed, we fit a retainer. The retention phase is essential - without it, teeth will gradually shift back towards their original positions. You will typically wear a removable retainer every night for the first year, then less frequently over time. Some patients opt for a fixed wire retainer for permanent peace of mind. Your dentist will recommend the right option for you.
